Albert
An affectionate homage to one of the great motion picture heroes, Indiana Jones.
When producing Albert I wanted to keep things simple. I didn't want to create complicated sets with large amounts of props and details. My goal was to focus on the story.
The idea was to use light and shadow to focus the eye on Albert as he travels through the mine shaft. I used only directional, point and spotlights to illuminate the scenes and atmosphere to soften forms.
What I learned from 'Boxer' was that cloth really helps the animation, so I challenged myself to use Houdini’s new Vellum solver.
Houdini has a visual elegance about it, especially the node design. I could mock up a layout in the master shot and even create a little pipeline.
The end result is something that pushed me to learn something new, to be creative and efficient with my time, and to have fun.
