The Clean Plate

This whole exercise was to explore all things visualisation and increase my competency in compositing. The general consensus is that the post vis artist will often tackle a wide range of disciplines.

I tried to remove any distortion from the plate, judging from the result of the undistort node and the appearance of the plate, the distortion was going to be pretty minimal.

I removed the grain from the plate then applied a generic Kodak grain at the end of the comp to bring back some life and help simulate old film stock.

Using a text node I was able to build a very basic but extremely helpful frame counter for my plates.

Even though the plate was a lock off, it contained jumps and vibrations. I found a clean area and did a very basic track.

The background of the plate contained some interesting movement and I wanted to retain as much as possible. The top of the cars gave me an area to create a nice blend. The background roto was then looped.

The finish clean plate with the frame counter burned in.

The complete Nuke tree. Super simple and allowed me to manipulate both parts of the original shot.
