Liminal

Collaboration with Pierre Huyghe for his most anticipated art show to date.

I was approach by Pierre Huyghe’s LA based team to help them out with a series of motion capture cleanup and keyframe animation fixes and splices. I wrote a few small tools to facilitate the transfer from the provided animation to the rig for the work to take place.

The team was based in France and LA and the reviews were held via zoom, the team later relocated to Vience to prepare for the show.

I sent the team a series of screen grabs while we were working to check everything was transferred correctly and they were happy. An animation transfer to an IK rig can lead to certain compromises due to how the IK was interpreting angles. The transfer was around 98% accurate to the source animation.

A couple of instagram posts featuring the work, it was all rendered in Unreal and it looked beautiful.

There is a great article about Pierre and his work in the latest edition of the Ursula magazine. I’ve applied my skills and ideas in many avenues in the creative world and I pride myself on being versatile. In the current modern paradigm - diversification, I believe will help me to secure many more wonderful collaborative opportunities in the larger art world.
