Pinching Pennies
VFX Supervision on this cute character piece.
This project gave me the chance to dust off my old 2D animation skills to bring the cute character to life.
A selection of draw overs. Looking to capture something loveable with a minimum of line work.
Post vis exploration into possible expressions for the character, without dialogue they needed to be readable.
In the final animation the character would be split, 2D for the face and the limbs would be 3D animation.
The rough cut, I used DigiCel to block out the 2D. The limbs were animated using Maya using a quick FK setup.
A more refined pass, locking down the facial expressions. A pass on the limbs in 2D, this helped speed up the 3D process.
